This workshop in Birmingham, hosted by the Academy of Medical Sciences, in partnership with the University of Birmingham, will give you the information and networking opportunities you need to move your career forward.

You will:

  • Learn about local and national opportunities for clinical academics.

  • Discuss practical tips for success.

  • Understand how to apply for competitive fellowships.

  • Network with senior academics from across clinical disciplines.

  • Professor David Adams FMedSci, Dean of Medicine, University of Birmingham

  • Professor Freddie Hamdy FMedSci, Head, Nuffield Department of Surgical Sciences, University of Oxford

  • Professor Jayne Franklyn FMedSci, Head, School of Clinical and Experimental Medicine, University of Birmingham

  • Dr John Williams, Head of Clinical Activities and Neuroscience & Mental Health, Wellcome Trust

The workshop is followed by a keynote lecture by Professor Sir John Bell FRS HonFREng FMedSci, Regius Professor of Medicine, University of Oxford.
