Programme of FORUM events 2015

Building on the success of our recent FORUM events, we are delighted to announce our provisional programme of FORUM events for 2015.

The FORUM provides an independent platform for stakeholders from across the life sciences sector to come together and discuss strategic topics of mutual interest. To find out more about any of the events listed in the programme below, please contact claire.cope@acmedsci.ac.uk.

  • 12 February 2015 - FORUM Annual Lecture delivered by Mr George Freeman MP
    Mr George Freeman MP, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Life Sciences, will outline his vision for the UK life sciences sector, and explore the future of the life sciences ecosystem in a panel discussion with the Life Sciences Champions:
    • Professor Sir John Bell FRS HonFREng FMedSci, Regius Professor of Medicine, University of Oxford
    • Mr Chris Brinsmead, Life Sciences Business Adviser
    • Mr John Jeans, Chairman of Imanova, Chair of Cardiff University, Chair of UK Biocentre

  • Spring 2015 - Geographical clusters
    A joint-workshop with the Wellcome Trust to explore how geographical clusters can work together effectively to drive medical research and innovation, and to discuss barriers to, and opportunities for, future development.  
  • 12 May 2015 - Stratified, personalised or P4 medicine: a new direction for placing the patient at the centre of healthcare and health education
    A symposium, organised in partnership with the University of Southampton, to address some of the wider issues for implementing stratified medicine in healthcare settings, and to look to the future in preparing the healthcare community to embrace this approach to therapy.
  • Autumn 2015 - Real world data: opportunities and challenges
    A meeting to consider the opportunities and challenges associated with the use of real world data in medical research and innovation.
  • Winter 2015/Spring 2016 - Ageing (provisional)
    A meeting to explore healthy life expectancy, and ageing as a risk factor for disease.
