Registering for mentoring and outreach

Registering to access support The Academy’s mentorship scheme is the only UK-wide scheme that offers truly independent and formalised support to clinicians aspiring to fulfil the demanding dual role of doctor and scientific researcher. The scheme aims to nurture and support the next generation of clinical academic leaders.

Register for 1-2-1 mentoring The Academy’s highly respected one-to-one mentoring scheme offers Clinician Scientist Fellows and Clinical Lecturers the opportunity to be mentored by a member of  the Academy’s prestigious Fellowship for the duration of their funded research project.

We promote an enabling, non-directive approach and mentors are mindful of staying outside of the mentees management relationships and their educational and research supervision.

Mentees are free to choose their mentor from our 900+ Fellowship dispersed throughout the UK.  Mentors provide a framework for making career choices and act as a signpost to information and resources. The paperwork associated with the scheme is purposefully kept to a minimum, however, the office contacts mentees from time to time to confirm that the relationship is active and working, and to provide support, where necessary.

If you would like to begin the simple process of registering for an Academy mentor, or just discuss your options, please contact Mrs Colby Benari, Programme Officer: mentoring@acmedsci.ac.uk
