The Academy’s report ‘Strengthening Clinical Research’ highlighted the importance of Experimental Medicine in enabling a more precise understanding of human disease, its diagnosis and prognosis, and therapeutic intervention. Increasing UK public sector capability in Experimental Medicine has the potential to facilitate innovation, by developing platform technologies, by linking with clinical trials systems and promoting access by industry.
Speakers considered different perspectives on the use of Experimental Medicine - in exploring disease mechanisms and in validating and testing new targets for drug research. The symposium also looked at issues for partnership and networking.
