Summary:Working Group Membership:In preparation for the revision of the UK Human Fertilisation and Embryology Act, the Academy undertook a working group study into research on embryos combining human and non-human material (inter-species embryos).

- To propose definitions of embryos combining human and non-human material, and identify relevant research protocols.
- To identify and agree key opportunities for research using such embryos, and cells derived from them, together with an assessment of how these opportunities are balanced by safety and ethical concerns.
- To provide recommendations where appropriate.
