Fellows are invited to attend a lunch for local Fellows and a workshop to develop mentoring skills.

The lunch will primarily be an opportunity to create connections among local Fellows but it will also provide a chance for discussion of issues of importance to the area and possible identification of candidates for nomination in the 2016 election. The Academy is keen to ensure that the Fellowship is fully representative of the UK as a whole in terms of gender, geography, ethnicity and specialty.

The mentoring skills workshop will be facilitated by Dr Amy Iversen,Senior Lecturer at the Institute of Psychiatry and Director of Habe Consulting. Amy is a former Academy mentee and an experienced mentoring scheme coordinator and coach. The workshop will focus on developing practical skills to enable both mentees and mentors to get the most out of their mentoring relationship. Topics include: the different roles of mentor and supervisor; establishing and managing expectations; dealing with potential pitfalls and giving or receiving feedback.
