£725,000 for Academy's Transformation Fund

The Academy's Transformation Fund is set to receive £725,000 by the end of the financial year. The Academy was thrilled to receive major gifts to the Transformation Fund from both the Welton Foundation and Laurie Landeau Foundation in late 2014.

We have also received generous donations from our Fellows joining the esteemed Helix Group, which now stands at nearly 100 members. The Helix Group has raised over £25,000 for the fund over the past year.

These donations combined means the fund is now set to receive an impressive £725,000 by the end of the financial year.

The money will be put to good use supporting the Health of the Public 2040 and research reproducibility policy projects. It will also support the Academy’s new SUSTAIN careers scheme, for women on the cusp of independent science careers.

The Transformation Fund was launched in 2014 to support an expansion in the Academy’s activities.  The Academy is seeking to raise £5 million to meet the increasing demand for our expertise, and to facilitate a step change in our activities to:

1.     Translate new science into health and wealth benefits.

2.    Support the next generation of medical researchers.
